Meet Margaret Szegvari

C.A.S., Ed.M., Harvard University Graduate School of Education

B.A., Hamilton College

Success comes from engaging in open and honest communication coupled with the structure and expertise to help young adults strategically and effectively apply to outstanding colleges where they will thrive.

I know firsthand that navigating the many facets of the college search and application process can be daunting at times. Families can become overwhelmed by the process and all the “noise” that goes with it. Sometimes they just find it hard to know where to begin and would like more support than their school counselor can provide.

Prior to my daughter’s sophomore year in high school, I wanted to tackle these issues firsthand and provide my entire family with an informed, supportive college search and application experience. I stepped into a new lane and coupled my over thirty years in teaching, school administration, and counseling with in-depth college consulting training through IECA.

Twelve years later, Szegvari Educational Consulting has grown into a successful firm where I have the privilege to guide and support some incredibly wonderful students and help their families feel supported and informed throughout the process. My understanding of colleges, the admission and financial landscape, student learning, and my skills as a counselor afford me a unique window into my work with them and with your family.

I have loved helping an array of college-bound students and their families these past years and look forward to supporting you and your family as you engage with the many facets of the college search and application process.

Take a moment to look further and see the many ways I can make a difference.

As a result of hundreds of college visits, careful analysis of data, and new learning and connections with colleagues at yearly conferences, I am able to share with families information that is current and targeted to their needs.

Get To Know Me Better

When not working, you can find me outdoors hiking a nearby trail or tending to my perennial gardens. These peony bushes hold a special place in my heart as I transplanted them from my childhood home in CT where they had grown for over fifty years. They seem to like their new garden bed in MA!

I am inspired by the wonders of our oceans and find every opportunity to explore local and distant waters with my husband and our two adult children (when they can make it). This special bay in Baja, Mexico is one spot where California gray whales come to calve. I spent a magical three days among them as I watched them tend to their young and prepare them for their journey back north.
